How to Create a Tech Pack for Your Clothing Manufacturer – XZS

A tech pack is a detailed blueprint that turns your design concept into a final product.

It provides factories with all the necessary specifications to produce a sample that matches your vision.

This essential tool ensures clear communication with suppliers, guiding them to execute your design exactly as intended.

What Do You Need to Create a Tech Pack?

To build an effective tech pack for clothing manufacturing, you can focus on five key elements: drawings, measurements, fabric, trims, and everything a supplier needs to know to turn your design into a finished product.

Drawings: Since you might not be an expert in Illustrator, a clear hand drawing with descriptions and specifications is essential. This lets your supplier fully understand what your design is.

Measurements: There are no standard sizes, so it’s crucial to define your target customer’s measurements. At a minimum, include key measurements like length, chest, waist, and sleeves.

Fabric: Make sure to clearly specify the fabric type (e.g., single jersey), thickness (e.g., 200 grams), color, and any other fabric requirements. If you’re unsure, send a reference sample to help your supplier source the same or similar fabric.

Trims: Don’t forget to include details about trims, such as zippers, buttons, neck tags, swing tags, etc. If you’re not sure about the specifics, a picture will help communicate what you need.

Printing or Embroidery: If you want printing or embroidery on your design, prepare a high-resolution file. Specify the size and placement of the print, for example, 5 cm below the neck.
